Namibia’s national oil company Namcor has announced plans to drill three oil and gas wells in the country by Q1, 2025.
The announcement was made by Namcor Executive for Exploration Upstream Victoria Sibeya at this year’s African Energy Week 2024 conference in Cape Town.
The drilling campaigns will be conducted with global oil and gas firms Galp Energia in PEL 83, Chevron in PEL 90 and Rhino Resources. Furthermore, Namcor will also carry out seismic data acquisition and appraisal activities in the Orange Basin, Walvis Basin, Namibe Basin and Lüderitz Basin.
Sibeya added that energy supermajor ExxonMobil also has plans to drill further exploration wells in Block 1711, situated in the Namibe Basin, to de-risk reservoir quality of a gas discovery made in the area.
