Eni‘s Coral Sul FLNG facility, located in the Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique, has reached a production milestone of 5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Brought online in October 2022, the facility has exported 70 cargoes of LNG and 10 cargoes of condensate to date; and transformed Mozambique into a major global LNG exporter.
“We will continue to work with our partners and the Government of Mozambique to ensure a timely valorization of Mozambique’s vast gas resources with additional developments of gas projects,” commented Marica Calabrese, Eni Rovuma Basin Managing Director.
The 3.4-million-ton-per-year facility monetizes gas from the Coral field in Area 4 and is the first FLNG unit to be deployed in deep waters on the African continent. The project is being followed up by a second FLNG facility – Coral Norte – which could reach FID later this year.
