The Mauritanian Employers’ Union (UNPM) and the Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) have established a task force to support and oversee investment ventures focusing on sectors including agriculture, fisheries, agri-food, energy and infrastructure.
The collaborative initiatives of CGEM and UNPM seek to enhance cooperation between the two nations. Trade between Mauritania and Morocco witnessed a significant increase, reaching $300 million by the end of 2022, marking a 58% surge from the preceding year.
Chakib Alj, President of the CGEM, emphasized that Mauritania represents a market with great potential for Moroccan economic operators and reiterated the ambition of the Moroccan private sector to further strengthen economic and commercial partnership with Mauritania to make it a model of cooperation.
“This innovative sustainable partnership will create jobs and have a significant impact on economic growth and the prosperity of the African continent,” he said.
