Mauritania’s Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy Mokhtar Al-Husseini Lam has called on increased economic cooperation with Japan.
During a two-day visit to Tokyo last week, Minister Lam met with his Japanese counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation in energy security, digital infrastructure, emerging technologies, clean energy and human resource and sustainable development.
The Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening Mauritanian-Japanese economic and investment relations through improved public- and private-sector partnerships.
Minister Lam affirmed numerous investment opportunities for Japanese businesses in Mauritania, with opportunities in the areas of electricity production, green hydrogen and its derivatives, iron ore and green steel processing and infrastructure support, including ports, roads, high-voltage lines and hydrogen pipelines.
