Canadian mining firm NextSource Materials has delivered the first commercial shipment of SuperFlake® graphite concentrate from the Molo Mine in southern Madagascar. The mine is one of the world’s largest graphite resources and the only source of SuperFlake® high-quality graphite.
Graphite was exported to Germany and the U.S. in late-October. Transported via Madagascar’s Port of Tulear, the high-quality graphite will support the production of consumer electronics and fire-retardant applications under pre-existing offtake agreements.
“This is an important step in NextSource’s development as a supplier of critical materials to global markets and a contributor to economic development in Madagascar,” said Craig Scherba, President & CEO of NextSource Materials.
Operations at the Molo Mine started in 2024, with the project currently progressing toward a full Phase 1 production target of 17,000 tons per annum (tpa). Plans are underway to increase output to 150,000 tpa.
