Libya’s Sirte Free Zone Authority has partnered with Chinese multinational Huawei to develop a Smart Port at the Sirte Commercial Port, enhancing operational efficiency and connectivity with regional and international markets.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to integrate smart city technologies in Sirte and other urban areas, focusing on intelligent transportation systems to alleviate traffic congestion, advanced building solutions for educational institutions and sustainable urban development.
Huawei is also leading other connectivity projects in Libya, including a 420km submarine cable linking Darnah in northern Libya to Greece, which will significantly boost the country’s digital infrastructure.
