Libya’s Sirte Oil and Gas Company – a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation – has resumed operations at the Methanol II plant after a seven-year shutdown. The plant is the second methanol facility in the country and production commenced following the installation and testing of the natural gas heater.
Sirte Oil and Gas Company is also working towards resuming operations at the Methanol I plant. Technical teams are currently engaged in comprehensive overhauls while installing thermal reformer pipes and fully upgrading the plant’s control systems.
Following completion, both the Methanol I and Methanol II plants will have a combined output of 2,000 metric tons per day.
