The government of Liberia is searching for local companies to engage in its 2020 offshore licensing round, which will begin on 10 April, which will take place online to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Liberia has 33 offshore blocks, with 24 blocks in the Liberia Basin and nine blocks in the Harper Basin. The licensing round is centered on the nine blocks in the Harper Basin.
The Liberian Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA) has formed plans to prequalify Liberian companies to take up 5% of the oil agreements. The Petroleum Law mandates that 5% of the shares be reserved for companies belonging to Liberian citizens.
The pre-qualification round will begin on 10 April, and the final launch will take place on 15 April. Due to the spread of the coronavirus, LPRA announced that it plans to move the launch to a webinar that will have an exclusive list of delegates and a speech from the Liberian President, H.E. George Weah.
