Abu-Dhabi based Der Mond Group has secured a partnership with Swiss consulting services company Iota Group to open a petroleum academy in Dakar, Senegal.
The academy will offer training programs and workshops at level with international standards in the energy industry and more specifically in the oil and gas value chain. Its aim is to support the state of Senegal in increasing the number of qualified and certified local professionals, subsequently providing jobs for the Senegalese youth.
Techma, a subsidiary of Iota Group, will provide its expertise, skills and training programs as well as qualified teachers.
“We are extremely proud to launch this training academy and to become, alongside our internationally recognised partner Iota Group, the first private Senegalese institution dedicated to shaping a pool of qualified professionals in the oil and gas industry,” said Khadija A. Ba, president and founder of Der Mond Group.
According to Ba, the group is proud to support Plan Sénégal Émergent – implemented by Macky Sall – and the academy’s first goal is to provide an industrial security certification course in order to establish a long-presence of certified professionals ready to tackle high-level challenges requested by operators, contractors and suppliers present in Senegal.
The academy’s regional office will be in Dakar, with offices set to open in Mali, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Conakry and Ivory Coast.
Der Mond Group – through its subsidiary Der Mond Oil And Gas – provides international services to the petroleum sector such as equipment logistics and products delivery across the spectrum from upstream to downstream. It currently holds operations in the United Arab Emirates, France, Mali and Senegal.
