Khalda Petroleum – a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and independent Apache – has announced a new oil discovery in the West Fayoum-1 area in Egypt’s Western Desert.
Situated in the Kalabsha Development Area, the well was tested by drilling 270 feet into Paleozoic sands, producing 7,165 barrels of oil per day at a quality grade of 44 degrees. The well also showed 23 million cubic feet of associated gas through a 1-inch production opening.
As the operator in the Kalabsha Development Area, Khalda Petroleum currently produces around 269,000 barrels of oil per day in the Western Desert.
The company is investing $1.2 billion across its operations in Egypt, including drilling 42 exploration wells, in the 2024/25 fiscal year.
