UK-based mining firm Jubilee has received regulatory approval for a new power supply agreement, securing energy for its Roan copper concentrator and Sable Refinery in Zambia.
The agreement’s initial power delivery began on January 20, enabling Jubilee to advance plans to restart and enhance operations at the Roan concentrator.
“The commencement of the additional power supply successfully addresses current power supply limitations that affected Roan’s ability to operate historically,” said Leon Coetzer, CEO of Jubilee.
The power agreement ensures sufficient energy for both the Roan and Sable projects, with Jubilee having signed a three-year renewable power purchase agreement with Lunsemfwa Power Company in August 2024.
