Multinational mining company Endeavour Mining has poured first gold from its Lafigué mine in Ivory Coast – a quarter ahead of schedule – yielding approximately 380 ounces.
The Lafigué mine is expected to reach commercial production by year-end. The mine has the potential to produce over 200,000 ounces of gold per year at an industry-leading, all-in sustaining cost of approximately $900 per ounce for at least 13 years.
Endeavour initiated the first phase of investment and development of the Lafigué mine in 2022, committing $31 million to advance the project through technical studies and permitting before construction commenced in Q4 2022.
“The Lafigué project is the fifth project we have successfully built in West Africa in the last decade, showcasing the strength of our in-house project construction team and demonstrating our competitive advantage in the world’s most prospective and largest gold-producing region,” said Ian Cockerill, Endeavour Mining CEO.
