The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has unveiled plans to launch a $100-million guarantee fund to accelerate solar energy adoption in Africa, with the goal of mobilizing up to $1.5 billion in financing.
The initiative focuses on deploying decentralized solar systems in African countries with significant solar potential. The ISA, an intergovernmental organization founded by India and France during COP21 in 2015, is dedicated to helping emerging countries harness their solar resources.
Additionally, the ISA announced it is partnering with investment fund Africa50 to manage its proposed $200-million Africa Solar Facility, which also aims to catalyze new investment in distributed solar projects across the continent.
