- The Oil & Gas Meeting Day commenced on Tuesday with opening addresses from Equatorial Guinea’s Prime Minister and Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, as well as the Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Congo, among other distinguished speakers.
- The event strives to create opportunities for and strengthen cooperation among African service companies in the oil and gas sector.
- It is currently being held from October 1-2 at the Sipopo Conference Center in Malabo.
Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, October 1, 2019 – Oil & Gas Meeting Day commenced on Tuesday to explore partnership opportunities and facilitate deal-making among national and international service providers in the oil and gas industry.
The two-day conference and exhibition was inaugurated by an opening ceremony, in which addresses were delivered by Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Congo H.E. Jean Marc Thystere Tchicaya; Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima and Equatorial Guinea’s Prime Minister H.E. Francisco Pascual Eyegue Obama Asue.
The event provides a platform to exchange experiences and best industry practices on local content, which is one of the key themes of the program and is critical to the development of African capabilities across the oil and gas value chain.
“This event marks a turning point in the history of our country. The National Alliance of Hydrocarbon Service Companies (NAHSCO) is showing the world our ability to work and our ambition to serve as a model for the application of national content policies,” said H.E. Minister Lima in his opening address.
“This meeting of service companies continues the search for better development of their activities, and they can count on our support on this path. One of the objectives of the ‘Year of Energy’ is to offer all our international partners the possibility to invest with us through technology, infrastructure and training,” said H.E. Prime Minister Asue.
Comprised of Akon Logistics, Trident Energy, iCubeFarm, Luba Oil Terminal Equatorial Guinea and PDVA, the primary panel of the first day tackled issues related to the local provision of aviation, logistics and supply services. The panel was opened by a presentation from K5 Freeport & Oil Center, which will be opening a training center in partnership with NAHSCO.
Presentations were also given by the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, Economy and Planning, the Mayor of Malabo, the International Monetary Fund, GETESA, coupled with two workshop presentations by Noble Energy and ExxonMobil.
Organized by the African Energy Chamber and NAHSCO, the meeting day is part of Equatorial Guinea’s ‘Year of Energy,’ a year-long initiative that seeks to position Equatorial Guinea as the energy capital of the continent through a series of Africa-focused events.
