Marine contractor Golar LNG is currently converting its newly acquired vessel, Fuji, into a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit. With the conversion, the company is now seeking contracts for the vessel.
The retrofit will transform Fuji into the MK II FLNG vessel, featuring a liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tons per year. Set for delivery by the fourth quarter of 2027, the MK II FLNG is projected to generate approximately $500 million in adjusted annual EBITDA. Golar LNG has already made progress, investing $300 million to date, with 63% of long lead items completed.
According to Federico Petersen, Golar LNG’s CCO, “The conversion of the Fuji marks a significant milestone for Golar LNG. We are actively seeking strategic partners who share our vision and can contribute to the successful execution of this venture.”
