Diversified energy company Genser Energy commissioned a 110km natural gas pipeline to propel Ghana’s power sector and foster economic growth.
The inauguration took place on April 17 in the presence of Ghanaian President H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Minister of Energy Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Dubbed the Anwomaso Gas Pipeline, the project will transport natural gas from western Ghana to power the 250 MW Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant, ensuring energy security and affordability in Ashanti region and northern Ghana.
“The Ashanti region is renowned for the development of small and medium scale commercial and industrial enterprises. With enhanced electricity supply, these enterprises will expand and offer further employment opportunities to our youth,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
Upon completion, the pipeline will form part of a network that spans 420 km, guaranteeing a secure natural gas supply to planned gas-to-power projects, including the 500 MW AKSA and 330 MW CENIT facilities.
