Germany has pledged €276.5 million to South Africa for the period 2024-2026 as part of a commitment to deepening cooperation in economic development and climate change.
As part of the bilateral cooperation agreement, the countries will focus on peaceful and inclusive societies; climate energy and the just transition; sustainable economic development, training and skills development; and health.
The commitment by Germany follows South Africa’s assumption of the presidency of the G20 forum – of which both countries are members – with the 2025 edition of the G20 Presidency Leaders’ Summit taking place in Johannesburg next November.
