The government of Gabon has appointed Hon. Nestor Andome Ayi as Secretary General of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. He is the former head of the training, communications and external relations department at the Gabon Chamber of Commerce and director of Cabinet at the Ministry of Relations with Constitutional Institutions. Liliane Ngari Onanga Y’Obegué held the position previously.

The announcement took place on the sidelines of the first Council of Ministers on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Hon.Nestor Andome Ayi enters the Ministry in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the oil price crisis which has heavily affected oil producing countries. Despite these challenges, the Gabonese government has shown strong commitment to boosting its oil exploration and production through the implementation of a new oil and gas code recently; the launching of ongoing licensing round and the signature of at least 12 production and sharing agreements with international operators.
