French energy developer Meridiam has secured a contract to construct and operate a 64 MWp photovoltaic solar plant in Sokodé, central Togo. The agreement, signed with the Togolese Government and EDF in Dubai on December 4, assigns Meridiam the responsibility to fund, design, build and operate the plant for a period of 25 years.
Construction is expected to commence in mid-2024, creating over 200 local jobs during both the construction and operation phases. The solar plant, situated in Salimde, will mark Togo’s second solar power facility alongside the existing plant located in Blitta.
With a portfolio spanning solar, hydro, wind, biomass and geothermal projects, Meridiam continues to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy solutions across Africa, totaling over 500 MW in installed capacity.
