Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have pledged to advance joint initiatives in energy transition, healthcare, vocational training, local vaccine production and agriculture in Senegal.
They convened on June 20 in Paris, following President Faye’s participation in a global forum on vaccine sovereignty in Africa.
The two leaders discussed common challenges and affirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between Senegal and France, emphasizing mutual respect and a balanced partnership that serves the interests of both nations, as stated in the official statement released after their meeting.
France remains the top foreign investor in Senegal and the second-largest trading partner after China. More than 250 French companies are established there, contributing to nearly a quarter of the country’s tax revenues.
