The bp-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG development has reached another key project milestone, with the arrival of the FPSO vessel at its final destination offshore Senegal and Mauritania.
Manufactured in China, the vessel traveled over 12,000 nautical miles to its destination and is currently being moored.
The GTA development is set to extract gas from deepwater reservoirs through a subsea system, producing around 2.3 million tons of LNG per year for domestic use and export, with the FPSO processing over 500 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
“The FPSO vessel has traveled halfway around the globe and its safe arrival and installation is testament to the resilience, skills, teamwork and huge effort of all the partners involved,” said Dave Campbell, bp Senior Vice President, Mauritania and Senegal. “We are now entirely focused on safe completion of the project as we continue to work towards first gas.”
