The floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the bp-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) liquefied natural gas (LNG) has arrived at the project, offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
The FPSO weighs over 81,000 tons of steel and has a processing capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
Positioned approximately 40 km offshore, it is set to deploy extensive pipelines linking extraction wells situated 80 km away before liquefying the gas for transport.
Discovered in 2015, GTA is anticipated to yield up to 2.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually. According to agreements with both nations, bp receives 60%, Kosmos Energy 30%, while Mauritania and Senegal each retain a 10% stake.
