Honorable Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Minister of Petroleum for the Republic of South Sudan, visited the Unity Oilfields on Friday.
The minister was accompanied, by a high-level delegation and Nile Petroleum Corporation, to oversee the progress of the rehabilitation of the oilfields.
The minister was joined by His Excellency Azhari Abdul-Gadir Abdalla, Minister of Petroleum and Minerals, Honorable Joseph Nguen Monytuil, Governor of Northern Liech State, Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, Director General for Internal Security Bureau (ISB), General Salah Abdalla (Gosh), Director General for National Security and Intelligence Service and senior officials of the Ministry of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan, Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals of the Republic of Sudan, President of Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) and President of 2B Operating Company (2B OPCO).
As part of the Ministry of Petroleum’s policy on social corporate responsibility toward the host communities, Minister Gatkuoth directed GPOC and 2B OPCO to drill boreholes immediately, starting 24 November so that citizens and livestock have access to clean drinking water.
Minister Gatkuoth also directed GPOC, 2B OPCO and all the contractors involved in the Fast Track Resumption of Oil Production in Unity Oilfields to work day and night to meet the target of first oil by 31 December 2018.
