Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons H.E. Gabriel Obiang Lima visited the NDOTE-1 well in the Mbini district on Tuesday, the first oil well ever to be drilled onshore in the country.
The identification of the location of the well – due to joint efforts by the Technicians of the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbon and the local authorities of the Mbini district – serves to promote drilling and exploitation of onshore prospects in Equatorial Guinea, as well as neighboring Cameroon and Gabon.
The Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons is currently evaluating existing data on the NDOTE-1 well, along with that of adjacent offshore wells, to analyze the hydrocarbon potential of the Rio Muni basin and surrounding areas.
The results of the evaluation could spur exploration activities, leading to job creation and expansion of the value chain for Equatorial Guinea’s oil industry.
