Earlier this month, operator Eni and partners BP and Total made an offshore gas
discovery after successfully drilling the first exploration well in the North El-Hammad
concession at Egypt’s Bashrush prospect.
According to Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources H.E. Tarek El-
Molla, the new discovery could produce up to 32 million standard cubic feet per day,
following the completion of initial tests.
Located 11km offshore and at the depth of 22 meters, the discovery lies in close
proximity to the Eni-operated Nooros and Baltim South West offshore fields.
Explorations by the three companies began in 2018, three years after the award of
the North El-Hammad license block. Eni and BP received a 37,5% stake,
respectively and Total was awarded the remaining 25%.
