Egypt is preparing to launch an international tender to import 740,000 tons of petroleum products. The tender is expected to open in August and will include 400,000 tons of diesel, 170,000 tons of gasoline and 170,000 tons of butane.
Additionally, the country is launching a separate tender for the import of LNG. The bids for five LNG shipments will take place in August and September, with two shipments totaling 145,000 tons expected to arrive at the Port of Sokhna next week. The initiative is aimed at ensuring a stable supply of fuel amid the country’s growing energy demand.
According to Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the country’s daily energy usage surpassed 37 GW this year, marking a 12% surge from the previous year and resulting in a 4 GW deficit. Meanwhile, Egypt’s annual consumption of diesel and petrol stands at approximately 12 million and 6.7 million tons, respectively.
