Renewable energy companies Infinity Power and Masdar have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with electric utility the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to construct a 200 MW onshore wind farm in Egypt’s Gulf of Suez region.
The wind farm will be constructed near the city of Ras Ghareb and will produce 810,000 MWh of clean energy while mitigating approximately 403,672 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Under the agreement, a consortium led by Infinity Power and Masdar will develop, finance and operate the project, which is poised to begin commercial operation by October 2026.
“This project not only expands our footprint in Egypt but also signifies another big stride in bolstering our local impact in the renewables sector, creating valuable jobs,” stated Infinity Power Chairman Mohamed Ismail Mansour.
The PPA was signed on 17 August and serve as the latest in a series of agreements aimed at supporting Infinity Power’s strategy to expand its capacity to 10 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
