The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), which will transport crude oil from Uganda to Tanzania’s Port of Tanga for export, has reached 47.1% completion.
This milestone was announced by Asaidi Mrutu, Coordinator of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
Spanning 1,445 kilometers, the pipeline is set to play a crucial role in linking Uganda’s Tilenga and Kingfisher oil fields – home to an estimated 6.5 billion barrels of crude oil – to global markets.
EACOP is a joint venture involving TPDC (15%), Uganda’s state-owned Uganda National Pipeline Company (15%), TotalEnergies (62%) and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (8%).
