The consulting firm for the Katende Hydropower plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) announced that the plant will generate 32 MW of electricity from its first phase within 24 months.
The project is located in Kasai Central province and forms part of national efforts to improve access to electricity in central DRC. The initial phase of the project will involve the installation of two turbines of 16 MW each, along with a transmission line to Kananga.
The government has secured financing and set up oversight structures including an engineering office and technical committees to ensure proper execution of the works.
