UK-based integrated energy firm Corcel has interest in Angola’s KON 11 and 12 onshore blocks, as part of its growth strategy, Scott Gilbert, the firm’s CEO told Energy Capital & Power.
During an interview at Angola Oil & Gas 2024 Gilbert said Corcel is pursuing new ventures and aims to acquire producing oil and gas assets in Angola and Brazil.
“Onshore prospects in Angola are very exciting. They have been producing oil since the 70S and we have interest to reactivate them,” stated Gilbert.
He said the firm’s growth strategy in Angola is also centered around exploration, with the firm conducting drilling operations in block KON 16.
Corcel plans to leverage experience in battery metals from its Asian operations to accelerate Angola’s energy transition.
“We have lots of experience across the entire energy value chain and we are here to generate more employment through investments in oil, gas and the energy transition in Angola,” reiterated Gilbert.
