The Republic of Congo and the UAE have signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to boost bilateral trade.
The CEPA targets an increase in non-oil trade between the two countries from $3.1 billion in 2024 to $7.2 billion by 2032. Under the agreement, tariffs will be eliminated over a five-year period on 99.5% of UAE export lines and 98% of Congolese export lines. The deal also aims to remove non-tariff barriers, expand market access for services exports and create new investment opportunities.
This milestone builds on a series of agreements signed in 2023, including accords on double taxation avoidance, investment promotion and protection and air transport cooperation.
Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso has emphasized his country’s commitment to deepening economic ties with the UAE, highlighting the pursuit of shared prosperity and sustainable development for both nations.
