The Republic of Congo, in partnership with British renewable energy company Bboxx, has launched a pilot project to electrify 10,000 households in the Likouala region using autonomous solar kits.
The pilot phase involves distributing 9,000 solar kits, one per household, in remote areas in the region. These kits will provide lighting and power services for a monthly subscription of 1,000 CFA francs. Additionally, 1,000 more advanced kits, including a television, will be offered at 5,000 CFA francs per month.
Bboxx’s equipment is remotely monitored, reducing on-site intervention costs. The individualized management model for each household minimizes the risk of vandalism.
The project will start in Likouala and gradually extend to other remote regions.
