Banking company the China Development Bank (CDB) has granted a loan of $254.76 million to the Kano-Kaduna railway project in Nigeria.
The 203.8km standard-gauge railway is currently under construction by engineering company China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and will connect the city of Kano to Nigeria’s capital Abuja. The line will also connect with the Lagos-Ibadan and Kano-Maradi lines
In addition to the CDB’s loan, the Nigerian government has committed $917 million to the $1.2 billion project. The railway line is expected to open by the end of 2025.
