Cameroonian governing body the Cameroon West Regional Council has announced that 4 GW of renewable energy projects are currently under development in the region and are set to come online by 2035.
The proposed projects will be developed in phases and encompass a mix of solar, wind, hydro, biomass and battery energy storage solutions.
According to the UN-Habitat Urban Energy Solutions program, the Western Region of Cameroon – which received only 100 MW of electricity from the national grid – boasts a renewable energy potential exceeding 6 GW.
