BW Energy has discovered oil in the Hibiscus North exploration well (DHBNM-1) in Gabon’s Dussafu Block.
The well is located in approximately 115 metres of water and will be drilled to a planned total depth of approximately 3,500m.
The overall hydrocarbon column will be determined after open hole wireline logging operations are completed after the well is drilled to the planned total depth.
The discovery is expected to increase the block’s previously announced gross discovered recoverable resource estimate, which is currently estimated to be around 105 million barrels.
Total gross production from the Dussafu Block is expected to be about 12,800 barrels per day in 2021, down from 14,100 barrels per day on average in 2020, according to BW Energy’s latest results statement, released earlier this month.
