Enabling shorter project lead times and quicker turnarounds on equipment delivery, maintenance and repairs, Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE) announced the inauguration of its oil and gas multimodal facility (MMF) on Monday.
Located at the Sonils Integrated Logistics Base in Luanda, the facility will serve as a hub for customers and projects not only in Angola but also in the southern Africa region, with products, services and capabilities spanning across multiple product lines and the entire energy value chain.
“BHGE is the only full stream technology and service company, supporting oil and gas operations in Angola,” said Ado Oseragbaje, President, BHGE Sub-Saharan Africa. “We have operated in Angola since 1958, and this latest investment in the country further cements our unique position in the market and offers our customers access to world-class technologies and services, spanning the entire oil and gas value chain to help their business. Beyond serving our customers, this facility is another big step in our localization journey and our long-term commitment to the African region.”
In addition to subsea infrastructure manufacturing and installation, the facility will also provide a range of oilfield services, well construction and drilling services, wellbore intervention, wireline services, completion services, aeroderivative turbomachinery, power and compression technology, and maintenance services for upstream, midstream and downstream facilities.
The hefty investment in infrastructure in Angola represents the company’s prioritization of the country and the region, as well as its continued development of local content initiatives, as the hub will be predominantly run by a skilled Angolan workforce.
