Engineering consultant Axess Group has won a long-term inspection contract with offshore operator MODEC for the Léopold Sédar Senghor FPSO vessel, which will be deployed at the Sangomar field offshore Senegal.
Under the contract, Axess Group will oversee annual certification scopes for lifting gear, dropped object prevention scheme (DROPS) surveys, remedial actions and rigging operations for the FPSO.
“This contract holds great significance for us as it is our first major agreement in Senegal since the establishment of the office in 2022,” stated Matthew Trichardt, Regional Manager for North-West Africa at Axess Group.
Having set sail from Singapore in December 2023, the Léopold Sédar Senghor FPSO vessel will be deployed at Senegal’s flagship Sangomar Field Development, 100km south of Dakar.
Due to come online by mid-2024, the $5.2 billion development – operated by production company Woodside Energy – is poised to become Senegal’s first offshore oil development.
