Angola’s upstream regulator the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency (ANPG) has received proposals from three international companies for 9 blocks in the onshore Kwanza Basin. Oil and gas companies ACE Energy and Power Consultants, Walcot Group and Prime Africa Trade submitted proposals to become operators of blocks KON 1, KON3, KON 7 KON 10 and KON 14.
Initially promoted under Angola’s 2023 Limited Tender, the blocks were not awarded during the licensing process. The proposals are supported by Presidential Decree 86/18 – outlining the country’s tendering and direct negotiation process. Following review of the proposals, the ANPG will conduct its due diligent process before determining the winners.
ANPG Executive Director Alcides Andrade stated that “our expectation is that with this process and eventually the awarding of the blocks, investors will move forward quickly with their oil activities and execute what will be agreed in the work plan. Because the main objective in this awarding process is to guarantee the sustainability of the country’s oil activity and production.”
