Italian multinational oil and gas company, Eni has begun oil production at the Vandumbu field located in block 15/06 through the West Hub N’Goma FPSO offshore Angola.
First oil from the Vandumbu field was achieved in November – three months ahead of schedule. This, along with the start up of a Subsea Multiphase Boosting System achieved earlier this month, is boosting oil production from block 15/06 by 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) via West Hub’s N’Goma FPSO, the company said.
The ramp-up of Vandumbu is expected to be completed by Q1 2019 and will achieve a total estimated production of 170,000 bpd.
This progress indicates a step towards the company’s phased and clustered development strategy for Block 15/06, which has seen the start up of eight fields since November 2014.
Eni is operator on Block 15/06 while Angola’s national oil company Sonangol holds a 36.84 percent interest in the block.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, Africa Oil & Power will organize the first Angola Oil & Gas conference, which will be held on June 4-6, 2019 in Luanda. Registration is now open.
