Renewable energy company Amea Power has started construction at a 50 MW solar project in Ivory Coast. At a cost of $60 million, the project represents the company’s first operational asset in the country and aligns with national goals to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy matrix to 45%.
Situated in Bondoukou, the project will generate 85 GWh of clean energy per year, providing power to 358,000 households. The project is co-financed by financial institutions FMO and DEG and is expected to offset approximately 52,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
“The 50 MW solar plant is a landmark achievement for Ivory Coast and a testament to AMEA Power’s dedication to delivering clean energy solutions across Africa,” stated Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman, AMEA Power. He added that “we are proud to partner with the government and the people of Ivory Coast on this transformative journey.”
