Algeria‘s LNG exports have increased significantly this month, owing to its supply of Free-On-Board LNG cargoes to compensate for reduced output from the Medgaz Gas Pipeline.
In response to ongoing maintenance and inspection works at the subsea pipeline, Algeria has increased LNG cargo shipments. As of September 20, the country had exported 700,000 metric tons of LNG, up from 450,000 metric tons in August.
From September 15-19, gas flowing through the pipeline from Algeria to Spain dropped to 13 million cubic meters per day, down from 28 million cubic meters per day earlier in the month. Works are expected to last until September 27, with further increases in LNG exports forecast, as Algeria continues to offset reduced pipeline flows and take advantage of high gas demand in the Mediterranean.
