Ministers from Algeria, Tunisia, Germany, Austria and Italy have formalized a declaration to jointly develop the 3,300km Southern Hemisphere (SoutH2) Corridor green hydrogen project.
The project will repurpose natural gas pipelines to transport green hydrogen from Algeria to European markets.
Designed to deliver up to 163 TWh, or four million tons, of green hydrogen annually, the SoutH2 Corridor is central to Algeria’s goal of supplying 10% of Europe’s green hydrogen demand by 2040.
The collaboration between these countries marks a significant step toward accelerating Europe’s transition to clean energy, while fostering regional energy partnerships.
