The African Energy Chamber is proud to introduce the revolutionary African Energy Village concept at the highly-anticipated African Energy Week (AEW) 2021 in Cape Town on the 9th – 12th November.
Focusing on investment, the value of African oil and gas, renewable energy potential and growth, and Africa’s burgeoning energy transition, AEW 2021’s African Energy Village unites global stakeholders at a COVID-19 compliant event.
- Taking place under all COVID-19 protocols and with adequate safety measures in place, AEW 2021 will comprise a revolutionary, safe and interactive conference and networking event.
The African Energy Chamber (AEC) will host the highly-anticipated African Energy Week (AEW) 2021, an interactive conference and exhibition on the 9th-12th November 2021. Taking place in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront, AEW 2021 comprises the first-ever African Energy Village, a strategic concept that aims to unite a global audience in a safe and productive event format.
The African Energy Village concept is revolutionary for events taking place in a COVID-19 context. AEW 2021’s strategic design and multi-platform approach enables substantial audience participation whilst complying with COVID-19 regulations and protocols. This will be achieved in the following ways: firstly, AEW 2021 utilizes multiple venues across Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront in a comprehensive event program. By limiting venue audience sizes and utilizing several conference and exhibition locations, AEW 2021 will give delegates more freedom of choice regarding sessions, provide diversified sponsorship opportunities that allow increased exposure for stakeholders, and increase regional and international participation and attendance.
Secondly, AEW 2021 lends itself more to the theme of networking compared to activities one may find in a rigid conference program. By establishing a hub at the Waterfront as a central point of engagement, the African Energy Village enables participants the opportunity to determine their own program and engage with events of their choice. This design ensures COVID-19 social-distancing restrictions are in place at all times whilst continue to provide valuable networking opportunities for stakeholders.
Finally, the African Energy Village utilizes a multi-platform approach to ensure increased participation by the event’s global audience. Utilizing online services such as virtual streaming, the event’s micro-website, and other applications, AEW 2021 provides both an in-person and online experience for stakeholders.
“AEW 2021 invites global and African energy stakeholders to participate in this transformative event. The concept of the African Energy Village enables a comprehensive and inclusive event program, widens audience participation opportunities, and complies with all government and COVID-19 protocols. We are demonstrating that Africa-focused events can and should take place in Africa,” stated NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the AEC.
AEW 2021 is not only strategically designed to ensure COVID-19 and government protocols are adhered to whilst maximizing event productivity, but the event also debunks the notion that 2021 energy events cannot be hosted in Africa.
“Any discussion about Africa’s energy future and associated decisions needs to be made in Africa. By uniting African and global stakeholders in a new and safe event, the AEC is demonstrating its commitment to the continent and to its people,” Ayuk continued.
To ensure the safety of all event attendees, AEW 2021 will enact the following COVID-19 measures: the adequate provision of sanitizing facilities across all venues; restricting attendee numbers at each venue in accordance with government regulations; and ensuring adequate testing facilities are in place. Additionally, delegates who present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certification will be granted a $200 discount on all event passes.
