Canadian oil and gas company Africa Oil Corp. has provided an update on its development and exploration activities in Nigeria, with ongoing negotiations for continued drilling across the Akpo and Egina fields in 2025.
In its Q3 2024 results, the company highlighted the completion of a 4D seismic acquisition program for the deepwater Agbami field, offshore Nigeria. The data is now undergoing fast-track processing in preparation for a drilling campaign scheduled for Q2 2026.
Additionally, Africa Oil Corp. is advancing the analysis of a 4D seismic survey over the Egina field, with seismic intervention and well planning validation expected to conclude by the end of 2024.
A new infill production well has been brought onstream at the Akpo field, where three producers and two injectors were completed in 2024. As a result of the successful infill drilling campaign, production rates at the field were 14% higher in Q3 2024 compared to the beginning of the year.
Negotiations are currently underway to extend drilling activities across the Akpo and Egina fields in 2025.
