The French Development Agency (AFD) will provide a €60 million loan to Guinea-Conakry to finance improved access to electricity in Forest Guinea. The National Transitional Council reviewed and adopted the credit agreement between Guinea-Conakr and the AFD on July 8.
The 20-year loan features a s seven-year grace period, allowing for a gradual repayment process. The project’s objective is to expand energy services to both urban and rural areas, with a key component being the Guinea-Mali interconnection project, which will be facilitated through the N’Zérékoré substation.
General rapporteur of Guinea’s parliamentary institution N’Gouamou Fabara Koné stated, “The loan will help strengthen the capacities of actors in the electricity sub-sector through institutional support and project preparation, including studies for new localities.”
