Emirati group AD Ports has contracted Chinese engineering company Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) to supply six ship-to-shore cranes and 17 hybrid gantry cranes for terminals in the Republic of Congo (ROC) and Angola.
AD Ports holds a 30-year concession for developing the New East Mole Terminal in Pointe-Noire and a 20-year agreement to modernize Luanda’s Noatum Ports Terminal. Both terminals will receive three Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes, capable of reaching 21 container rows.
Pointe-Noire will receive nine hybrid gantry cranes, while Luanda will be equipped with eight. These cranes reduce diesel consumption by up to 60%, saving around one million liters of diesel and cutting 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
“These cranes are crucial for modernizing port operations. In line with our leadership’s vision to boost trade and investment, we are committed to investing in advanced technologies to enhance value for our customers and support the economies we operate in,” said Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of AD Ports Group.
