Global leader in wireless well technology Acoustic Data has been contracted by a multinational oilfield services company to deploy its SonicGauge Wireless Monitoring System in a gas field project – expected to produce gas, liquid petroleum gas and condensate – in North Africa.
SonicGauge’s technology is expected to deliver downhole pressure and temperature in real-time surface-read-out (SRO) on post-frac well tests using acoustic telemetry. This will allow for live analysis, which in turn will helps sub-surface teams to make swift and informed decisions about field growth, reducing standby time and related operational expense.
“The SonicGauge’s real-time SRO will ensure fast reservoir evaluation post-frac, which will allow the drilling program to proceed without uncertainty or delay. Performing this work as part of an integrated services package is an ideal first step for Acoustic Data into the North African market. We see this as a key region for our next stage of growth,” says Stephen Murphy, Global Sales Director of Acoustic Data.
Acoustic Data will hire local engineers in-country as well as training their partner’s staff to support the project’s ongoing operations, while the deployment of the SonicGauge technology is already ongoing and operations will commence in the fourth quarter of 2020.
